Has anyone ever made a knoppix disk or understand what is needed to make an ISO file bootable? Both Easy CD Creator and burnatonce have settings to make bootable disks, but it seems like you need a some kind of boot image file (like a .bin or something). Is that part of the ISO file? I really don't understand how these work. Thanks in advance!Knoppix Boot Only Iso Files
Hi & welcome to LQ!!! I'm learning this creating-bootable-USB stuff too (tho I know oldUnix)
Yes, more details/clarification needed (esp. by/for me!!!)
>'I have tested Knoppix 8.1 installed on a pendrive and everything is fine for me.'
Is this a prior similar 'Knoppix > Install KNOPPIX to flash disk', done
from a 'live' Knoppix, except without a separate encrypted data partition?
Assuming yes, what 'won't run' is specifically only the:
addition of / change to: a separate encrypted data partition, right?
>'But when I install the distro in a 16 Gb USB pendrive with the menu option Knoppix > Install KNOPPIX to flash disk making a 6 Gb partition for data, encrypted,
>it results impossible to me run Knoppix so installed in any PC I have tried.'
What exactly detailed happens with this 'won't run' install: boot error? hang?
Maybethis would auto-post ALL info (if you want to spend the effort)
TMI: I 'burned' a live Knoppix8.1 (w/Yumi) to study this, but don't have a 2nd pendrive, to try 'installing' Knoppix, sorry.
I'm actually posting this from the live stick, instead of XP where I do VBoxes
